L.O Report February 2017

In Lansing:  Things to watch

Eastern Standard Time – bill to keep time at EST and not switch to DST

Freedom of Information Act – Transparency

          Auto Insurance Reform

I will keep you posted if anything new comes up with these three items.

Seminar:  Meeting new people and getting to know people I’ve already met better.

Lt. Gov. Calley was at Seminar and spoke to the assembly.

          Dondi discussed:

The MCCA:  The Michigan Court of Appeals has ruled the MCCA is not subject to the Freedom of Information Act.

Your Insurance Policy:  Be sure to compare your Declaration Page with the matching section in your policy to be sure the policy covers what you think it covers.  Be especially watchful for Uninsured and Underinsured coverage.  Be aware that there is no such thing as “full coverage”. Your version and your agent’s version will not be the same!

Dondi and Jim Rhoades both mentioned that M-Live had an article on the “50 Most Dangerous Intersections in Michigan.  I found 5, none of which are in Genesee or Shiawassee Counties.

MRF News for February 2017:

The RPM Act has been reintroduced by the House and Senate which overturned an EPA ruling.  This Act would allow the public to modify cars and motorcycles into race machines and would also allow companies to sell products for that reason.

Another bill has been introduced that requires the National Academy of Sciences to provide an assessment on the implications of higher blends of alcohol in our fuel.  This is a major concern to older cars, light trucks, motorcycles, boats, mowers, chainsaws, etc.

I have included a copy of the Motorcycle Profiling Questionnaire below. If any of you feel you have been pulled over because you were profiled, and not for a legitimate reason, please fill out one of these forms and get it back to either myself or Jinx.  We will be taking these to Washington with us to show that profiling is a fact in Michigan.
