Hello Region 20 members, family and friends.  It’s been a while.  I’m back….lol.

Special thanks to all of the new members and guests that have attended our local meetings.  For the month of January Genesee had 40 attendees and Shiawassee had 24. On to the Awareness news...

What can I say…..Wholly shit...the Region 20 Awareness Team kicked ass in 2010.  Not only did they kick ass but they did it by teaching 2005 students in 2010 to LOOK TWICE SAFE A LIFE.  Absolutely remarkable!!!!!  Special thanks to all of the Awareness Instructors that applied their time to help keep the roads safer for all of us.  Your dedication does not go unnoticed.  It is hard to believe that a handful of individuals can teach a record number of students as the Awareness Team did in 2010.  Please make an effort to thank your fellow Abate members that participate in the Awareness Program.   Can’t wait to see what numbers are possible in 2011. Mike welcomes all challenges.  God Bless Lorenda who challenged his team last year.  It is important to remember that with the amount of students that the Awareness Team continues to teach come self sacrifices of such a small amount of individuals.   See Mike if you are interested in joining the team.  Any help would be appreciated.  Remember...it’s our lives and the lives of others that they are saving.  Special congratulations to Eric Wallace who has been appointed as the Co-Director of Region 20 Awareness Program.  Great Job Eric, thanks for stepping up the challenge. Mike thanks everyone for all of their concerns and well wishes with his recent surgery.  We are happy to report that he is on the mend.  On to the Legislative Officer report……………

Marty and Bus would like to remind everyone to call/email their legislatures.  Remind them to vote for the Right to Choose.  We have great hopes now that Jenny has vacated the premises.  Let’s hope her motherly consciousness leads to her to a more active role in supporting the needs of others...such as the one’s that live in a neighboring country…Perhaps Canada.   This could be the year that our reality of Riding Free becomes a reality.  That would be AWESOME.  More news to follow in future months, as always check out the State Legislative Officer Jim Rhodes section in the front of this mag. Marty and Bus..Thank you for all of your hard work…On to the Events Section...

I am pleased to announce that Robin “Bubbles” Goyette will be your Events Coordinator for Region 20.  Robin will do a great job.  She is working hard on the Calendar of Events for 2011, it will be available by next meeting.  See Robin if you have any ideas about a “new event” or questions about an existing one.  It is hard to believe that we will be scheduling out 1st, 2011 11th Annual Bikin for Burns committee meeting in February.  I will keep you posted on the happenings…On to the Care and Concerns Report….

Happy birthday and anniversary to everyone in January 2011, April was a busy month.   As mentioned above, Mike aka “Kritter” is on the mend, it’s hard to keep a “Kritter” down.  Latest news, Robin aka “Bubbles” had surgery last week on her shoulder..ouch!!! So Robin has a bummed wing.  Keep those who are facing challenges in your thoughts.  There is strength in numbers.  The mind is a powerful tool. On to the RC report…

Welcome to 2011. Randy would like to send care packages again this year to a few soldiers.     He really was proud of the gracious donations last year.  These care packages are to be mailed near 2/14/11.  If you have items that you would like to have included in the package bring them to February’s meeting.  After all….it’s our Freedom that they are protecting.  This is the least we can do to show them we appreciate them.  GOD BLESS THEM!!!!  BRING THEM HOME SAFE!!

Randy is again, serving a chairperson for the State Field Meet.  There will be a few changes this year.  Abate will be having the field meet in Hell, Michigan..What the “Hell” do you say…..We are all going to Hell…Michigan..that is. Swimming pool..movie stars..Well maybe not movie stars, but I have heard that the swimming pool will be available..olympic size..oh yeah!!!!.  Hell Creek Ranch is a beautiful place.  Changes are being made to make this event bigger and better than ever.  Don’t forget the beads. More information will be available soon.

Randy encourages everyone as a new year begins to keep focused on the potential of our region.  What a great group of friends and family.  Some of you we have known for years, some may have first met, but all are family in our hearts.  Let’s make 2011 the best “fricken” year ever.

Have you taken a moment to check out our Region 20 web page?  Stephen has done such a great job.  Check out the website for all of you Abate Region20 news.  Including officer contact information, legislative news, events and of course pictures.  Speaking of pictures…this weekend is our Abate State Seminar in Saginaw.  Always memorable…
