Hello Region 20 members, family and friends.

I am hopeful that everyone is enjoying their summer.  August’s meeting in Genesee was held at Kimberly’s Pub in Flint, Michigan.  There were 43 attendees, including 6 new members:  Dale Covert, Metric, Debra Sewell, Hugh McCracken and Lillian Pinchock -Mata.  Guests included:  Angie R and Craig Cullen.  Shiawassee’s meeting was held at the Hickory Lounge in Corunna, Michigan.  There were 23 attendees.  No new members or guests.  On to the news…….

The Awareness Team is doing an awesome job educating our young drivers to LOOK TWICE SAVE A LIFE.  I am still amazed that a small group of individuals can teach so many teens in the area.  Many thanks to all of the team members that have taught, including our very one member of Region 20 “Kritter”..who just so happens to be the State Awareness Director.  Thanks for all of your efforts..1211 students is a great accomplishment and we are moving towards our goal of 2100.  LOL..Mike just likes a challenge!!!!  Don’t forget to give an extra 5.00 to Awareness when you renew you membership.  All of the monies provide materials for the students that attends the awareness classes.

Our legislative officers (Marty- Genesee and Mark “The Bus”) are doing a great job keeping us informed of the happenings in Lansing.  There are a few bills that are pending approval for our Right to Ride Free.  Please refer to our state Legislative officer Jim Rhoades section in the front of this newsletter.  Jim has the most updated information.  I can tell you to please call your legislative representatives.  You may not think that your voice counts..but it does.  They were voted by the public and should support the views of their constituents.  If not..well…..can we say..Hello Taco Bell, can I take your order!!!!  Or maybe this…we have a verbal contract with our employer to perform certain activities and after being hired…..we decide not to….how long would we have our jobs!!!!

Our products team is waiting on new merchandise. I am anxious to see what new items will be available for fall.  Really liked the variety of colors that were available in the Spring.  Come to a local meeting to see what is available.  Special orders are available.  You will just need to pay at the time of ordering. On to Care’s and Concern’s…

Our condolences go to Terry “Boo Boo” and Robin “Bubble’s Goyette on the passing of Terry’s mother.  But as Boo Boo said in the eulogy, I just know that my mom and dad are dancing to Glen Miller and are cheering for an encore.   Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.  On to the RC Report…

Hopefully you were able to attend the 2nd Annual Freedom Ride in July.  What a great event.  Special thanks to The Hickory Lounge and Kimberly’s Pub, The Iron Wheels MC and the Barron’s MC for being destination stops.  Region 20 is preparing to distribute the monies from Bikin for Burns to Swartz Creek and Durand Fire Departments.  We are pleased to announce that Swartz Creek Fire Department will be purchasing a thermal imaging camera.  Our hopes are that Durand will be able to do the same.  The past two years our attendance from Bikin for Burns has been down due to weather.  I will let you know next month if we were able to also purchase the imaging camera for Durand as well.  If not..we will again, bring Durand on board as our 12th Annual Bikin for Burns recipient, many thanks to the Axemen MC for raising additional monies which helped us reach the goal.  It is hard to believe that the End of the Year Party will be held in 2 weeks.  Where has the summer gone!!! Lol.  On September 17th plan on attending Region 20’s, 6th Annual RAVE Run in Shiawassee County.   The monies raised from this event provide support for a local “safe house”, protecting individuals that have been involved in domestic violence.   Check out the flyer in this edition or the events section for contact information.  In October we will be hosting out Fall Color Tour and Halloween Party.  More information will be available in the next edition, or check out the flyers. What the hell..might as well mention our Christmas Party to..lol…It will be here before you know it!!!!!

Members of the month for August were Kevin “Shooter” Wheaton and for Shiawassee was me!!! Holy Shit..how about that one. I guess it helps to sleep with the Regional Coordinator. LOL!!!!  Not Kevin, I mean me!!!!!

Well   it’s time to close…As always, if you haven’t attended a meeting lately, please do...we host two meetings a month; one in Shiawassee the 1st Sunday of the month at the Hickory Lounge in Corunna and Genesee the 1st Monday of the month at Kimberly’s Pub.  If you can’t attend due to personal obligations, we understand...we know you are here in spirit….
